Here is a message from our newly elected president Neville Bylund about the upcoming season at Attwell Park.
To all club members, new and old
On behalf of the Albany Speedway Club and the new committee, I would like to welcome you to the new season 2014-2015.
Albany Speedway Club 50th Year Anniversary
Firstly, a huge thank you to last year’s committee and club members but most of all every to volunteer who donated their time, equipment, resources and knowledge to make last season such a successful one.
Ending the season after putting on so many fantastic events while sometimes under extreme circumstances and still leaving the club in a healthy position to kick off this 2014-2015 season is what I’m sure we would all agree definitely makes it successful season to be very proud of as a member.
Some of that money is going towards upgrading the club facilities like upgrading spectator pit access to cater for the disabled and better accessibility for everyone, with a wide gradual ramped walkway. Expansion of the viewing area near pits top entrance gate including an added fenced off spectator viewing section over pits area without pits entry required.
The most exciting news is the club will now be making the use of transponders on all race cars (purchased by drivers at discounted rate through the club) to record laps and times making life fairer and easier for all. Every driver will be able to log into My Laps and see their recorded laps and times at anytime, providing another tool that drivers can use to improve their stats.
The club has committed to purchase all of the required equipment and software to use transponders permanently. Initially 15 extra units will be purchased by the club for nightly hire to visiting/drivers that do not have their own yet.
We have an action-packed calendar with high-profile events like World Series Sprintcars, the Speedcar Grand Prix Series, the Late Model Sedan USA Invasion Tour and the WA Production Sedan State Title just to mention a few.
